Anchor will now let you convert video call recordings to podcasts

Anchor, an app owned by Spotify, is adding more functionality to its platform, to make podcasting more accessible to people, especially those without knowledge of editing multimedia files.

The company announced that from today, users can use Anchor to convert recordings of conference calls made using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, Google Meet, Twitch, and Instagram Live video calls, to podcasts.

To avail the new feature, users will have to upload the recording of the multilateral conversation on Anchor’s website. Once the file is on their server, Anchor automatically adds the resulting audio clip, which stitches together different segments of the meeting, into an file that can be modified using the episode builder function.


The resulting audio clip can be trimmed to remove redundant information, and background music, and other effects can also be added from the existing library or by uploading to your Anchor account.

Many platforms require users to subscribe to premium plans to avail a backup of video chats. The final audio clip that contains the podcast can be exported as a .mp4 or .mov files. Anchor’s new feature complements the ‘Record with Friends’ update that it brought out last month, enabling users to invite guests to edit and review podcasts, even if they don’t have an Anchor account.
