Ananthan Kaadu to Unmadham: Watch these Malayalam OTT releases on Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video and more

The Malayalam OTT space has something for everyone this week, whether you are in the mood for an action-packed drama, a gripping thriller or a reality show filled with daily twists. Some of these titles have just made their digital debut, while another popular reality series is preparing to return with a familiar host. Here are the Malayalam releases to add to your weekend watchlist.

Ananthan Kaadu - ManoramaMAX

Ananthan Kaadu is a Tamil-Malayalam action drama directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar and written by Murali Gopy, and it began streaming on ManoramaMAX on September 2. The film is set in 1990s Thiruvananthapuram and follows a group of local thugs whose lives take an unexpected turn after they encounter a Sri Lankan Tamil rebel.


Arya plays the rebel at the centre of the story, while the supporting cast includes Murali Gopy, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Sunil, Achyuth Kumar, Regina Cassandra, Santhy Balachandran, Nikhila Vimal and Dev Mohan. The period setting and action-driven storyline form an important part of the film.

Unmadham - SonyLIV

For viewers looking for a Malayalam thriller, Unmadham is another option. Directed by Kiran Das, the film follows Shelly, a civil police officer who also dreams of becoming a screenwriter. His interest in storytelling takes him back to an unresolved case involving the mysterious death of a young woman.

As Shelly investigates the case again, the boundaries between his professional life, his writing ambitions and the mystery surrounding the death begin to blur. Kunchacko Boban and Lijomol Jose headline the film, which started streaming on SonyLIV on September 4.

GDN - Netflix

R Madhavan’s GDN has also made its way to the digital space after its theatrical run. The biographical drama began streaming on Netflix on September 4 and brings the life story of inventor GD Naidu to a wider audience.

Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, the film follows GD Naidu’s journey as he pursues his passion for innovation while facing resistance from powerful authorities. His determination to continue working on new ideas despite repeated obstacles forms the central part of the narrative.

The film stars R Madhavan in the lead role and is available in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on Netflix. The multi-language release allows viewers across different parts of India to explore the story of one of Tamil Nadu’s best-known inventors.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 – JioHotstar

If you prefer reality television over films, Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 is set to bring back the familiar mix of tasks, arguments, friendships and eliminations. Mohanlal returns as the host for the eighth season of the Malayalam edition of the popular reality show.

The format once again brings a group of contestants under one roof, where their relationships and personalities are tested through daily activities and weekly eliminations. Viewers can follow the contestants as they compete for the title while dealing with the pressures of life inside the Bigg Boss house.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 will start streaming on JioHotstar from September 6, 2026. Unlike the films on this list, the reality show will roll out as an ongoing season rather than a single OTT premiere, with new episodes expected throughout its run.
