Anant Ambani, the younger son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani launched Vantara, a new endeavour to rehabilitate wild animals last year. The 3,000-acre Wildlife Animal Reserve, which is located at the Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat, has been in the news for protecting the ecosystem and animals. The Ambanis introduced yet another exciting feature in Vantara.

From October 4 to 6, 2024, three wildlife-themed sculptures will be exhibited at prominent spots in Mumbai—Carter Road, Shivaji Park, and Juhu Beach—highlighting how wildlife is endangered due to the exploitative nature of human consumption.

Crafted from wire mesh and locally sourced materials, these sculptures serve not only as artistic creations but also as a thought-provoking call for awareness. Each artwork depicts wildlife entangled with human waste, subtly but powerfully reminding us of how our everyday actions, from plastic consumption to urban development, harm natural ecosystems.

One sculpture shows an Asian Black Bear with its head stuck in a discarded plastic container, illustrating how animals often become unintended casualties of human pollution. Another installation features two Flamingos entangled in plastic, symbolizing the destruction of bird habitats caused by pollution. The Juhu Beach exhibit shifts its focus to marine life, presenting a simple yet moving sculpture of turtles trapped in fishing nets and surrounded by debris, portraying the struggles sea creatures face in their polluted environment.

This initiative is part of Vantara's larger mission to safeguard wildlife and rehabilitate ecosystems. With its 3,500-acre sanctuary in Gujarat, Vantara has led efforts in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and reforestation, helping to protect over 1 million animals and plant 100 million trees. These actions are part of a broader vision to harmonize human development with environmental preservation. It is also an artistic endeavour is an attempt to remind people how their choices affect the wellbeing of sentient creatures.

A spokesperson told News 18, “The sculptures are meant to provoke thought about how modern life and consumption patterns are taking a toll on the planet," said a spokesperson for Vantara. “Our goal is to bring attention to the interconnectedness of all life and inspire people to rethink their relationship with nature."
