As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja has unveiled its 2024 avatar, capturing widespread attention with its majestic 20-kg gold crown, valued at Rs 15 crore. This generous gift, presented by Anant Ambani and the Reliance Foundation according to Lokmat Times, has added a remarkable touch to the iconic festival celebrations.

The first look of the Lalbaugcha Raja, revealed on the evening of September 5, showcased the idol draped in maroon attire and adorned with intricate jewelry. The centerpiece of this year's display is the opulent gold crown, which was meticulously crafted over two months. This gesture by Anant Ambani is a testament to his longstanding relationship with the Lalbaugcha Raja committee.



As usual, this year too, the Lalbaugcha Raja Public Ganeshotsav Mandal is celebrating the Ganeshotsav of Lalbaugcha Raja from Saturday, September 7, 2024, to Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

Anant Ambani's Relationship With Lalbaugcha Raja

Anant Ambani’s association with Lalbaugcha Raja spans 15 years. His involvement goes beyond mere appearances; he has been actively engaged in supporting the committee through various initiatives. Ambani has frequently attended Ganeshotsav celebrations and the grand immersion ceremony at Girgaon Chowpatty Beach.

During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lalbaugcha Raja committee faced significant financial strains. In response, Anant Ambani stepped up with substantial aid. As per reports, his contributions included the donation of 24 dialysis machines to support the committee’s patient assistance fund, reflecting his commitment to public welfare.

This year, to honor his contributions, Anant Ambani has been granted honorary membership of the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal. This recognition reflects his ongoing support and the critical role played by the Reliance Foundation in enhancing the mandal’s charitable activities.

In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Anant Ambani has been appointed as an executive advisor to the Lalbaugcha Raja committee. This role underscores his deep involvement and influence within the organization.

Ganesh Chaturthi Significance

Ganesh Chaturthi, beginning September 7, marks a major festival in Maharashtra. The ten-day celebration features elaborate rituals, vibrant festivities, and concludes with the grand visarjan, where Ganesh idols are immersed in water bodies amid chants and music.

Lalbaugcha Raja, known as the ‘King of Lalbaug,’ is one of the most visited Ganesh mandals in Mumbai. Every year, devotees from all walks of life line up to catch a glimpse of the revered idol, making it a central highlight of the festival season.
