Anand Mahindra's #MondayMotivation quote is what we need to get through another week of blues and bad news

The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in India has been far more devastating than the first. The country has recorded over 26 million cases of Covid-19, and the death toll due to the virus has crossed the 300,000 mark.

Even as several experts says that deaths are being under-reported, more names continue to get added to this number, as the country continues its battle against the pandemic. And every tragedy, however young or old, leaves behind loved ones fighting a reality that requires more than just courage.

The Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, an avid Twitter user, took to the micro-blogging site to quote American jurist and politician Salmon Chase, and share some Monday motivation in these trying times.


"Sometimes I feel as if I could give up—as if I must give up. And then after all I rise & press on," was the quote Mahindra chose.

The 66-year-old went on to add that "no one, no matter how rich, or seemingly lucky, has not faced difficult moments that required courage to overcome."


Just two minutes after posting his original tweet, he quoted a comment from a follower who said that it was feeling difficult to rise up again this time. Mahindra provided comfort through words, as he empathised with her, and asked her to "hang in there."

"I know what you mean. Hang in there....," Mahindra replied to the user.


From sharing hacks to quirky videos, and helping out folk in distress, Mahindra's Twitter timeline is a treasure trove. For his 8.4 mn (and counting) followers, the business tycoon's social feed is a mix of news, opinions and interesting things happening around the world. Last month, he had a word of praise for the Mumbai Police who handled a 'lovelorn man' in their own way.
