Anand Mahindra feels extremely proud of Uday Kotak, the man he mentored
More than 30 years ago, it was a gesture of faith that Anand Mahindra showed a young, fresh out-of- MBA- college Uday Kotak by lending him Rs. 1 lakh to start a financial services company.

Today, Kotak Mahindra Bank has a market capitalisation of Rs. 1,60,152 crore and is one of the largest banks in India.

Mahindra, who has seen Kotak’s success story pan out in front of him, recently gave the billionaire banker another pat on the back on social media while reminiscing their first meeting.

Commenting on an article in The Economic Times on the bank’s latest surge in market capital, Mahindra tweeted —“1985. Young Uday Kotak enters my office & offers financing. He’s so smart, I ask if I can invest in him. My Best decision.” And the admiration did not end there.

Kotak’s response followed minutes later. “Thank you, Anand. You are my friend, mentor, guide in this journey.”
