Anand Mahindra was in a jovial mood on Saturday. Like most Indians, he took pride in seeing India score a decisive victory over China! The armies of both nations recently engaged in a delightful tug-of-war game in Sudan. India emerged victorious and Indian netizens rejoiced online.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, the chairman of Mahindra Group retweeted the clip and wrote, “Have to confess that I couldn’t help enjoying this video…” The post went viral, gaining over 350K views and 9.5K likes. Reacting to the post, one X user wrote, “It is part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission! Indian soldiers showed amazing teamwork and a spirit of competition.” Another commented, “Saw this yesterday & which is what I was wondering, am I the only one enjoying it? Why is not viral yet? In a video shared by the news agency ANI, troops from India and China were shown enjoying a tug-of-war game. The news agency reported that Army officials verified the legitimacy of the viral video, purportedly depicting a friendly league match held on Monday as part of the UN Peacekeeping Mission.

Tug of War is a competitive sport where two teams engage in pulling opposite ends of a rope, aiming to drag the opposing team across a central line.

The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) was established by the UN Security Council via Resolution 1590[1] on March 24, 2005. This decision followed the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement on January 9, 2005.

UNMIS is tasked with various responsibilities, including facilitating the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, undertaking specific humanitarian aid, protection, and human rights promotion efforts, and offering assistance to the African Union Mission in Sudan.
