Anyone with a decent Twitter following knows that to tweet regularly is to invite a myriad of comments, praise, complaints and on the very rare occasion, a helpful suggestion. It’s a conversation that most CEOs active on Twitter are familiar with but few decide to take forward. Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra is one of the few.

When a Twitter user pointed out recently that the Mahindra Group still uses plastic water bottles in their corporate boardrooms, Mahindra promised to get rid of the bottles. “Yes, plastic bottles will be banished. We were all embarrassed to see them that day,” he tweeted.

While Mahindra’s quick response was heartening, he is not the only CEO to take action when responding to a Twitter suggestion or complaint. A few others:

Elon Musk
The Tesla CEO is very active on Twitter and often responds directly to those tweeting at him, especially if it’s a product query. Just last week, Musk took to Twitter to address some concerns and questions about the Model 3 and its modifications.

In March, when a user complained that Tesla’s one-week return policy only applied to those who hadn’t taken a test drive, Musk tweeted a reply that contradicted the company’s website. “No, it is one week either way,” he tweeted. Shortly after Musk’s tweet, a revised return policy was posted to Tesla’s website.

According to past media reports, Musk has often made changes on the fly to Tesla’s products or policies based on customer feedback.

Jack Dorsey
While Dorsey is very active on Twitter – his timeline is filled with retweets and snapshots – he rarely responds to users tweeting directly at him.

However, on some occasions, the Twitter CEO does make an exception like in the case of this user who pointed out tweets from blocked users were still appearing on his timeline. The tweet piqued Dorsey’s interest. He promptly asked for screenshots and promised to look into the problem.

Vishal Gondal
Another CEO that’s active on Twitter and quick to respond to user concerns is Vishal Gondal, the founder of GOQii. Recently, when another Twitter user and entrepreneur reached out with some queries and monetizing tips, Gondal responded to his query within minutes. He also directed the user to GOQii’s research analyst – Sebastian M - for more information.
