Anand Mahindra celebrates 10 years of Star of Italy title, pens thank-you note on Twitter

Apart from being the chairman of one of the largest automotive manufacturers in India, Mahindra and Mahindra, businessman Anand Mahindra is also a well-known face on the Internet where he enjoys over 10.5 million followers on Twitter.

The 68-year-old billionaire on Monday celebrated the 10 year anniversary of being awarded the Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy.

In a post, the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai thanked Mahindra for his contributions towards India and Italy's bilateral relation and cooperation. To celebrate the occasion, Mahindra was also honoured.


Mahindra later took to Twitter to pen a thank-you note.

"Anuradha & I want to thank you, Consul General @shongy1995 & Signora De Masi for so generously hosting us & honouring me on the anniversary of this award. The ties between our two countries are strong & enduring & the @MahindraRise group looks forward to increasing economic collaboration between us…," Mahindra tweeted.
The businessman was conferred the Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy by the President of Italy in 2013.

In 2016, Mahindra was appointed Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honour by the President of the French Republic, the highest decoration in the country.

Meanwhile, Mahindra on Monday cautioned his Twitter followers on the dangers of letting children use smartphones at an early age. "Incredibly disturbing. Research being conducted by Sapien Labs and Krea University, AP, shows that the age at which a child first owns a smartphone affects their mental well-being in adulthood. I join many others in urging parents to exercise caution & restraint," Mahindra said alongside a picture and link to the study.
The researchers studied the impact of glowing up with a smartphone or tablet and found out how mental wellbeing in young adults improved depending on how late they had access to the device.
