An equal tech? Three women took the stage at the #AppleEvent

The iPhone 7 was not the only new thing at the Apple Event. In a pleasant turn of events, the tech giant also had 3 women speakers on stage at the San Francisco Stadium during its mega event. However, only one of them was an Apple executive.

Susan Prescott, Apple's vice-president of product management and marketing, spoke about real-time collaboration tools in editing platform iWork. The appearance on Wednesday was her second stint at an Apple gig.

To put a number to this change, there were three women and four non-white people on stage, including Ninetndo's Shigeru Miyamoto who is the creator of Mario, and Trevor Edwards, Nike's president.

Apple, along with other tech companies, has been long criticised for the lack of female faces at events. Only 19 women have ever presented at Apple events since 1997, and, out of these only nine have been company employees.

The question however remains: was this a genuine effort on part of the group to change things or a last minute PR gimmick? As you decide that, here's something to consider, in the end it was the men of the company that launched the phone and watch, while the women stood by.
