Amul celebrates ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ Oscar win with adorable doodle, Big B gushes about milestone on Twitter

The 95th Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars) will go down in history for more reasons than one. This was the year when not one, but two Indian nominees bagged an Oscar.

Indians, both back home as well as the global diaspora, are in the mood for celebration as ‘Naatu Naatu’ (the chartbuster from ‘RRR’) and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won Oscars for best original song and best documentary short, respectively. Dairy giant Amul and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan were the latest to join in the celebrations.

The dairy brand dedicated an adorable doodle to ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ team. The animated doodle features the cartoon versions of director Kartiki Gonsalves and producer Guneet Monga, an elephant, and the iconic Amul girl. The doodle also has the caption, ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ (a reference to the 1971 Rajesh Khanna starrer, which also explored a close bond between an elephant and his caretaker).

Monga reacted to Amul’s adorable tribute. Sharing the picture on her Instagram Stories, the Sikhya Entertainment founder wrote, "BEST."

The Big B also gushed about the historic win on social media. Taking to Twitter, the ‘Deewar’ star wrote, “ We win! We win two! We win for the country and the people! We win! Bharat ka jhanda gaad diya, videsh mein (India has planted its flag, abroad)!
In his blog, Bachchan Sr wrote how the win was a double-edged sword. He stated that although this was a “long overdue recognition,” the Indian craving for foreign recognition may be a residue of colonial domination.

“But an attention ruled and governed by an alien nation .. .. they that receive make us proud .. we are no less .. never less than any other .. And in the recent time we or rather I discover, that the attention being drawn to them that perpetuated the Colonial system of rule, are being talked about, debated, and given to public consideration for its adequacy and merit .. "Let's see... a long way to go," the superstar wrote.
