Amitabh Bachchan celebrates July 4 at Mumbai's US Consulate

It was the 236th US Independence Day on July 4, so the US Consulate Mumbai decided to celebrate with a Hollywood-themed party at a luxury hotel. Hollywood stars were missing, but the spotlight shone on Bollywood with the guest of honour Amitabh Bachchan, who was welcomed by the Consul General in Mumbai, Tom Vajda.

Shubada Rao, chief economist at Yes Bank and Manoj Gurshahani, president of the US-India Investor Forum, were seen at the party, as was Sumit Mullick, additional chief secretary and chief protocol officer, Maharashtra. The highlight of the evening, guests said, was the fun red carpet livened up by a filmi set décor and a band belting out songs from Hollywood movies.
