Amitabh Bachchan beams with pride as Mumbai earns 'Tree City of the World' title
Mumbai has been awarded the prestigious title for the second consecutive year.

— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) 1680570976000According to BMC, Mumbai has been awarded the 'Tree City of the World' title second time in a row. The title was earned for the first time in 2021, making it the second consecutive win in 2022.
The list also includes the Mumbai Metropolis Region, which consists of Municipal Corporations like Thane, Greater Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Kalyan-Dombivali, Ulhasnagar and Bhiwandi- Nizamapur.
Since 2019, cities around the world have been trying to conserve the environment and plant more trees. BMC said it was honoured that its efforts of implementing innovative experiments were being recognised by the world.
"The initiative also explores and continuously researches efforts being made around the world to preserve trees and the environment. Cities that fulfil these criteria are honoured by being included in the list of Tree Cities of the World," the BMC tweet read.
The certificate was issued by Dan Lambe, Chief Executive of Arbor Day Foundation, and Hiroto Mitsugi, Assistant Director-General of the Forestry Department of the Food and Agriculture Organization.
Coming back to Bachchan, the Big B planted a 'Gulmohar' sapling in his first bungalow 'Prateeksha', situated in Juhu, during the first year of the pandemic.
While 'Jalsa' is his primary residence, 'Pratiksha' holds an emotional value for the superstar. Both properties are one kilometre apart. He has another bungalow 'Janak', located in Juhu.
