Amazon Prime Video October releases: From Stephen King's Carrie to The Terminal List Season 2, new movies and series arriving

Prime Video is preparing for a packed October, with horror, action, romance and comedy all finding space in the streaming service’s upcoming lineup. Among the biggest releases are Mike Flanagan’s new take on Stephen King’s Carrie, the long-awaited return of The Terminal List and several new original movies. With Halloween approaching, horror gets particular attention, while major returning franchises are also expected to bring viewers back to the platform.

Mike Flanagan’s ‘Carrie’ arrives for Halloween season

One of the biggest October releases is Carrie, a new eight-episode adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel. The series arrives on October 7, with Summer H. Howell playing Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan portraying her mother, Margaret. The adaptation comes from Mike Flanagan, known for series including The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass. Unlike earlier film adaptations, the Prime Video series has room to explore King's story across multiple episodes. The new version also updates the story for the social-media era. Carrie faces bullying at school as her telekinetic abilities begin to emerge, giving the familiar story a contemporary setting. King is also an executive producer on the series, according to Amazon’s official Prime Video information.

‘The Terminal List’ returns after four years

Chris Pratt is back as James Reece in The Terminal List Season 2, which premieres on October 21. The new season is based on Jack Carr’s second novel, True Believer, and expands the story beyond the revenge-driven narrative of the first season. Reece becomes involved in an international conspiracy that takes him across several regions, including Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Amazon has confirmed that all eight episodes will be released together. The series follows the first season, which debuted in 2022, while the Dark Wolf prequel has also expanded the franchise.

New movies bring romance and heist drama

Prime Video will also debut Love of Your Life on October 14. Margaret Qualley stars as Maya, whose life changes after a relationship with Charlie, played by Gabriel Basso. The film explores love, loss and starting over. Another notable release is Masterplan, arriving October 16. Stanley Tucci stars as an experienced art thief who brings two young strangers into a plan to steal the Mona Lisa. The heist takes an unexpected turn when he reveals that the pair are his children.

‘Helluva Boss’ and Halloween comedy

Fans of adult animation can look forward to Helluva Boss Season 3, with the first part arriving October 14. The series follows the chaotic adventures of the I.M.P. assassination business and its colourful group of characters. Prime Video is also bringing Halloween-themed comedy with Last One Laughing: Halloween on October 23. The special puts comedians in a familiar format with a spooky twist: contestants must avoid laughing or screaming as bizarre surprises are thrown at them.

Prime Video has more than originals

The October lineup is not limited to new Prime Video productions. The service is also adding a selection of older films and other licensed titles during the month, giving subscribers more options alongside the headline originals. Amazon’s UK October schedule also includes Kill Jackie, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as live Champions League and NBA coverage, although availability varies by country.
