Amazon Echo Dot with Clock can switch on/off lights, play music, give traffic details, help with online purchases, and more
Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) with Clock Highlight: Digital clock Get it for: Rs 5,499
Though not an audio brand, Amazon has made a mark in the smart home speaker market with its range of Echo devices. Its latest budget offering is a revamped model of Echo Dot 3rd Gen, featuring an LED clock.
According to Amazon, the clock was added to the speaker after “Alexa, what is the time?” became the commonest question to the virtual voice assistant.
Other than showing time, the Echo clock also shows outside temperature and timers that users have set. And do not worry, there is also the option to snooze the alarm.
Another feature we liked about the new device is that the LED clock turns warm when the lights of the room are turned off. This reduces strain on the eyes in a dark room and one can easily use the Echo instead of the phone to check the time before getting out of bed. This also means the brightness and dimness of the LED display depends on how well-lighted the surroundings are.

The clock was added to the speaker after “Alexa, what is the time?” became the commonest question to the virtual voice assistant. The speaker, however, comes in only one colour option – white, unlike the Echo Dot, which has three more shades. But like its predecessor, it has the same circular design with fabric style grills on the sides, except that the grills now have a digital clock. The top of the speaker, as usual, has four buttons -- two are for volume control and two for microphone mute and Alexa.
Like any smart home speaker, Amazon Echo Dot with Clock can switch on and switch off lights, play music, give weather-related information and traffic details and more. And like all Amazon smart speakers, this one can help you make online purchases on Amazon, track orders and more.
The device also manages to deliver good call quality. The Dot with Clock does not disappoint in sound output as well. The sound levels range from 1 to 10, and are loud enough to fill a room.
The Dot with Clock comes at an MRP of Rs 4,999 which is Rs 500 higher than the regular Echo Dot (3rd Gen). While many buyers may not fork out that much extra for an LED clock, we found it to be a nice, functional feature.
