Last year, the press reported that it was ad guru Alyque Padamsee, who introduced former INX media honcho Peter Mukerjea to his wife Indrani, currently in prison for her role in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora. The exact nature and circumstances of that meeting has now come to light.

This week, the CBI filed a chargesheet against Mukerjea. The document includes a statement that Padamsee gave to the investigators clearing the air on his presence during the meeting.

"I hardly knew her. We just happened to be in a gang of people having dinner. We just said 'come join us' because there were no seats left. That was it," he says.

Padamsee recalls that he and some people including Mukerjea were having dinner at the Calcutta Club in Mumbai. According to him, Indrani came in with Sanjeev Khanna. The two were offered seats at their table as there were none left. Padamsee remembers Khanna introducing Indrani as 'my wife'.

"It was accidental", says Padamsee, who was acquainted with Peter Mukerjea as the chief at Star TV.
