Alpha OTT release date new details: When and where to watch Alia Bhatt, Sharvari's action movie from YRF's spy universe

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha is getting another chance to entertain the audience audiences after its theatrical run failed to make the expected impact. The action thriller brought two female leads to the centre of Yash Raj Films’ popular Spy Universe and featured a cast packed with familiar faces. Despite the franchise connection and the presence of major stars, the film struggled at the box office.

The film will now arrive on OTT. According to 123Telugu report, Alpha is set to premiere on Netflix on August 28, 2026. It will be available in Hindi, while there is currently no official confirmation about dubbed versions. Directed by Shiv Rawail and backed by Yash Raj Films, the film will now look to find a wider audience through streaming.

Bobby Deol plays Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, who serves as the film’s main antagonist. Anil Kapoor appears as R&AW Chief Vikrant Kaul, adding another important layer to the spy drama.

The film also features Hrithik Roshan in a special cameo as Major Kabir Dhaliwal. His appearance connects Alpha further to the larger Spy Universe and gives audiences another glimpse of one of the franchise’s established characters. Dia Mirza is also part of the cast in a special role.

The story revolves around Sita and her journey after she becomes an Alpha soldier. While Alpha arrived with considerable expectations, its theatrical performance was underwhelming. According to Sacnilk.com, the film finished its box office run with a worldwide gross of around Rs 100.16 crore. This reportedly made it the lowest-grossing film in YRF’s Spy Universe.

The film is the seventh instalment in the franchise. The universe began with Ek Tha Tiger, followed by Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3 and War 2. Alpha expanded the franchise by putting female spies at the centre of the story.
