After weeks of anticipation, Alpha has finally arrived in theatres. Starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, the action thriller marks a major milestone as the first female-led standalone film in the YRF Spy Universe. Backed by Yash Raj Films, the movie opened to a slow response despite decent pre-release buzz and advance bookings. However, after a modest start on its opening day, the film witnessed better momentum on its second day, offering hope for a stronger weekend at the box office.

Alpha box office collection day-wise

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Alpha collected Rs 11.25 crore net in India on Day 2 across 6,882 shows. With this, the film's total India net collection has reached Rs 20.50 crore, while its India gross collection stands at Rs 24.60 crore. The film also performed steadily in overseas markets, earning Rs 7 crore gross on its second day and taking its total overseas collection to Rs 13 crore gross. Overall, Alpha has grossed Rs 37.60 crore worldwide within two days of its release.

The film had a cautious start at the ticket windows after advance bookings failed to generate the kind of excitement usually associated with films from the YRF Spy Universe. However, the second day's collections indicate that audience interest improved after the release.

While the numbers are still below the opening figures of previous YRF Spy Universe films, the upward trend on Day 2 could help the film build stronger collections over the weekend if positive word of mouth continues.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari lead the franchise's first female-led story

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is a landmark project for Yash Raj Films as it introduces the first standalone female-led story in the studio's successful spy franchise. The film features Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as two elite intelligence agents who team up for a dangerous mission against a powerful enemy. Bobby Deol plays the primary antagonist, while Anil Kapoor appears in a pivotal role.

Adding to the excitement for franchise fans, Hrithik Roshan reprises his popular role as super-spy Kabir Dhaliwal in a special cameo, linking Alpha to the larger YRF Spy Universe.

Alpha hit theatres on Friday (July 3) in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, allowing it to reach audiences across different regions of the country. The film combines high-octane action, espionage and emotional drama while introducing two women as the central faces of the franchise.

The action sequences and scale of the film have been among the biggest talking points since its release, with fans eager to see how the new characters fit into the expanding spy universe.

The latest chapter in the YRF Spy Universe

Alpha joins the growing lineup of blockbuster spy films produced by Yash Raj Films. The cinematic universe began with Ek Tha Tiger before expanding with Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3 and War 2.

Unlike the earlier films that primarily revolved around male protagonists, Alpha shifts the spotlight to two female agents leading a high-stakes mission. The film represents a new direction for the franchise while maintaining the interconnected storytelling that has become a trademark of the YRF Spy Universe.
