R Madhavan, who impressed viewers with his stint in director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2, led by Ranveer Singh, is basking in the success of his latest film. The actor has slipped into the shoes of legendary Indian inventor and industrialist GD Naidu, often called the ‘Edison of India’ in the biographical drama, GDN. The movie, helmed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, premiered on August 7. Now, Madhavan has achieved another milestone, announcing Game Changers in the Middle East, a UAE-born startup investment series, which will find the next generation of entrepreneurs across the world. Its air date is yet to be revealed.

R Madhavan recalls Ratan Tata’s lasting influence

In a video posted by Game Changers on Instagram, R Madhavan, in a candid interaction with the host, opened up about his 56-year-long journey as an actor, filmmaker, entrepreneur and now mentor. According to him, success never came to him in a straight line, which made the experience even more ‘extraordinary’.

R Madhavan recalled growing up in Jamshedpur, where he was deeply influenced by the stature of prominent Tata leaders, including Ratan Tata and other industry stalwarts like Mr. Rooh Sree Modi and Mr. Jayadi Tata. Their presence, he noted, would command immediate attention, with rooms falling silent and people being drawn to them almost magnetically.

How Madhavan redefined success through humility

That impact stayed with Madhavan from the age of 6, when he developed a strong desire to create a similar impression whenever he entered a room. He later recognised that his childhood aspiration could appear driven by a desire for attention. However, with time, he came to understand that what he truly sought was not attention for its own sake, but the ability to excel so profoundly that both humility and achievement would naturally attract people.

Madhavan said this understanding had shaped his approach to success over the years. From his earliest memories of wanting to accomplish something meaningful to his journey today, humility has remained an important force guiding him. He stressed that achievements should go beyond personal recognition and instead inspire others.

Madhavan’s final takeaway on success

According to Madhavan, true success lies in reaching a level where one’s accomplishments motivate people to pursue their own goals while also encouraging them to discover the right processes and paths to achieve what they set out to accomplish.
