All for love! Hazel Keech follows in Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore's footsteps to change name

Model and actress Hazel Keech recently changed her name to Gurbasant Kaur after marrying cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Here are some other celebrities who changed their given names.

Sharmila Tagore

The Bengali actress converted to Islam and had her name changed to Ayesha Sultana when she married Nawab and cricketer Mans

Remo D’Souza

The choreographer who has made a name for himself with reality TV shows was born Ramesh Gopi Nair. He sought his parents’ permission before changing his name. D’Souza is married to Lizelle, a designer and they have two sons, Druv and Gabriel.

Salma Khan

Better known as Salman Khan’s mother, she was born Sushila Charak but changed her name when she married lyricist Salim Khan. However, it is unclear if she converted to Islam or not.

Nargis Dutt

Born a Muslim whose name was Fatima Rashid, Nargis (the actress’s screen name) married fellow actor Sunil Dutt in 1958 She converted to Hinduism and had her name changed to Nirmala. She died in 1981.

Dharmendra

The actor was married to Parkash Kaur at the age of 19. He converted to Islam to marry fellow actor Hema Malini in 1980 as he did not want to divorce his fi rst wife. Dharmendra changed his name to Dilawar Khan.

Hema Malini

The actress changed her name to Aisha Bi after her conversion to Islam to marry Dharmendra who also converted as he was not ready to divorce his fi rst wife. Islam allows a man to have more than one wife at a time.
