Aliens built pyramids is debatable. But a hidden Egyptian code inside Great Pyramid of Giza's measurements could reveal a cosmic secret from 4,500 years ago

The idea that aliens helped build the pyramids has never been proven. But what if the Great Pyramid of Giza was carrying a secret message of its own? A new theory claims that its height, base, sloping sides and overall shape may contain a numerical code linked to the Moon, stars, planets and even important mathematical constants.

The idea comes from independent researcher Sefy Levy, who argues that the 4,500-year-old monument was designed not just as a massive stone structure, but as a permanent record of knowledge. His paper, The Pyramid as Memory Hypothesis, was posted on SSRN and Zenodo in August. However, the research has not yet been peer reviewed.

Is there a hidden code in the Great Pyramid?

According to the theory, the supposed code is not written as a message on the pyramid. Instead, it is hidden in the measurements of the structure itself.


Levy examined key dimensions of the Great Pyramid and divided them using fractions that were used by ancient Egyptian scribes. He then compared the resulting numbers with known figures from mathematics and astronomy.

One calculation produced 27.5, which Levy connected to the roughly 27.55-day interval between successive lunar perigees, when the Moon reaches its closest point to Earth.

Another calculation produced 70. Levy linked this figure to the approximate period when Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, disappeared from view because of the Sun's glare. The number also has a connection with ancient Egyptian mummification traditions, although that does not establish that the pyramid's builders intended the connection.

Levy further claimed that other calculations came close to the repeating movements of Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and Mars. He also pointed to proportions resembling pi and the golden ratio.

‘The pyramid is the knowledge, made stone’

The central idea behind Levy's theory is that the pyramid may have been designed to preserve knowledge for generations long after its builders were gone.

As quoted by the New York Post, Levy wrote: “The pyramid is not a container for knowledge,” and added, “It is the knowledge, made stone.”

Metro reported another line from his paper: “The pyramid was not built to last forever because it contained something valuable…it was because it was something valuable.”

Daily Mail also highlighted Levy's stronger conclusion: “The pyramid is not a container for knowledge. It is the knowledge, made stone.”

The researcher believes the monument's measurements may have preserved Egyptian understanding of mathematics, time and the heavens in a form that could survive for thousands of years.

What does the theory say about the pyramid's purpose?

Levy's argument goes beyond numbers. He questions the conventional interpretation of the Great Pyramid as a funerary monument built for Pharaoh Khufu.

He instead connects it with the ancient Egyptian creation story involving the primordial mound, known as the Benben, which was believed to have emerged from the waters of Nun at the beginning of creation.

He has also suggested a possible connection with the Eye of the Sahara in Mauritania. According to his theory, ancient communities may once have lived there before drought forced people towards the Nile, with later generations possibly building the pyramids in memory of their ancestral home.

There is currently no evidence supporting this part of the theory.

Does this prove the Great Pyramid had a cosmic message?

Not yet. Levy tested his idea against 100,000 computer-generated Old Kingdom-style pyramids with different dimensions. He reported that 2,419, or about 2.4%, produced as many mathematical and astronomical matches as the Great Pyramid or more.

He argued that this makes pure coincidence less likely. But the result is still part of his own analysis and does not amount to independent confirmation.

Mainstream Egyptology continues to regard the Great Pyramid as a royal monument associated with Khufu. As Daily Mail noted, its granite sarcophagus, mortuary complex and surrounding royal cemetery support a funerary function, although they do not prove that Khufu was actually buried inside it.

For now, the supposed code remains an intriguing theory rather than a discovered fact. The Great Pyramid may have been built as a tomb, a monument, a religious symbol or something more complicated. Whether its measurements really preserve a cosmic message from ancient Egypt is a question that still needs much stronger evidence.
