Sadhguru’s sleeping habit
During one part of the candid conversation, Alia Bhatt asked Sadhguru a ‘random question’. She wanted to know how many hours of sleep he gets every day. To this, Sadhguru’s unexpected response left Alia Bhatt stunned, but it also shed light on what taking rest and being active actually means.
Sadhguru revealed that for the past 28 years, he has been sleeping for 2-3 hours. However, 2 years ago, he met with an accident where he injured his head twice, leading to emergency surgeries. After that, the doctors gave him sedatives and other medicines for 4 months, which made him sleep more. Sadhguru shared that at present, he sleeps for 3-4 hours daily, depending on the day.
Alia Bhatt surprised by Sadhguru’s sleep hours
Sadhguru’s answer left Alia Bhatt visibly surprised as she blurted out, ‘That’s it?’, unable to believe his words. The actress admitted that she tries to get 8-9 hours of sleep every day, citing that most medical professionals also agree on the fact that an individual requires at least 8 hours of sleep to rest and function properly.
Buy Sadhguru begged to differ with just one simple but powerful question. He asked Alia Bhatt, ‘When do you live?’, highlighting that life is not merely about the number of hours one sleeps, but the quality of wakefulness, awareness, and how consciously one experiences each moment. When Alia said that one requires sleep after a long, tiring day, Sadhguru pointed out, ‘Why did you damage your body in the first place?’
More about what rest means and Alia Bhatt
Elaborating on the matter, Sadhguru explained that whenever someone asks him how he unwinds, or relaxes his mind after stress, his only reply to them is that he does not allow himself to get wound up, be anxious and worry unnecessarily, as such mental burdens only make your health worse. In conclusion, Sadhguru said that those who sleep excessively may be avoiding life, whereas those who sleep for genuine rest wake up more aware, energised, and fully engaged with their surroundings.
Coming to Alia Bhatt, the actress has a couple of films lined up in her kitty. She will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Alia is also a part of Yash Raj Films’ first-ever, female-led spy action thriller Alpha, co-starring Sharvari Wagh.
