Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Samrat Prithviraj' gets tax-free status in Gujarat, mints Rs 44 cr at box-office
UP, MP and Uttarakhand declared the film tax-free before its release.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel decided to exempt the Hindi film of taxes in the BJP-ruled state as it celebrates the life of warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan.
The announcement came days after three other BJP-ruled states declared the film tax-free.

Meanwhile, the movie has managed to collect over Rs 44 crore at the domestic box office since its release. The historical action drama was released on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

According to a statement issued by Yash Raj Films, 'Samrat Prithviraj' - which was made at a budget of Rs 175 crore - earned Rs 10.70 crore on Day 1. During the weekend, the movie did a business of Rs 12.60 crore (Saturday) and Rs 16.10 crore (Sunday) at the box office, taking its three-day total to Rs 39.40 crore nett.
Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by YRF, It also stars Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood.
The film was previously titled 'Prithviraj', but was changed to 'Samrat Prithviraj' to honour the brave king.
