Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Ram Setu' mints Rs 15 cr at the box-office on opening day, Diwali holiday brings relief

The Diwali holiday has helped Akshay Kumar-led 'Ram Setu' perform at the box-office.

If reports are to be believed, the Abhishek Sharma-directorial has minted Rs 15 crore on its first day at the box-office. The movie was off to a good start, especially in the mass centres, thanks to the festivities.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share that the day one collection of 'Ram Setu' was Rs 15.25 crore on its opening day. The movie was released on Tuesday, a day after Diwali.


His tweet read, "'Ram Setu' is off to a good start on the Diwali holiday."


Another film trade analyst Sumit Kadel said that the Hindi movie performed well in the mass belts on its opening day after a long time. While the holiday remains the major factor, the second first week is crucial for the movie.

Kadel said it was heartening to see B and C centres going all gun blazing for 'Ram Setu'. "If they hold well for the next few days then 'Ram Setu' will have a good first-week biz."


Earlier, he had said that the movie showed a positive opening trend.


According to a Box Office India report, the movie - touted to be a one of its kind action-adventure film - opened in the 30 per cent to 35 per cent range. The trends show that the movie started with good occupancy, and the Hindi belt saw 'houseful' tags during the noon shows.

Directed by Sharma, the film is inspired by the mention of the Ram Setu bridge in the Hindu epic Ramayana. The film features the actor as an archaeologist, who is on a mission to protect Ram Setu from evil forces. Through the journey, he encounters various challenges.

Besides Kumar, the movie also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha in pivotal roles. It marks the Bollywood debut of Tollywood star Satyadev Kancharana.

Earlier, producer Vikram Malhotra, who has worked with Kumar in several movies before, insisted that the Afghanistan and Boat action scenes are two of the major highlights of his Diwali 2022 release.

The movie has been co-produced by Cape of Good Films along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions.

'Ram Setu' clashed with Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra-led 'Thank God' on Tuesday. According to Adarsh, 'Thank God' has made Rs 8.10 crore on day one.

Directed by Indra Kumar, 'Thank God' also features Rakul Preet Singh and Nora Fatehi.
