Akshay Kumar shuts trolls once & for all, says he has applied for an Indian passport
Actor Akshay Kumar continues to make headlines on issues like patriotism and citizenship. In April this year, the 'Kesari' star was under the radar for an interview he conducted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and for not casting a vote in the Lok Sabha elections. Netizens trolled the 52-year-old actor for holding a Canandian passport as well. However, looks like the Khilaadi of B-town is no longer willing to take it anymore. At a media event in the national capital on Friday, Kumar revealed that he has now applied for an Indian passport.

Kumar, who was at the event with his 'Good Newwz' co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan, was questioned about being targeted for Canadian citizenship. To this, he responded that he has already applied for an Indian passport. He went on to say that it's hurtful to prove his nationality repeatedly to the world.

“I have now applied for the passport. I am an Indian and it hurts me that I am asked to prove that every time. My wife, my children are Indian. I pay my taxes here and my life is here,” he said.

Kumar also explained why he obtained a Canadian passport in the first place. He revealed that at one point of time in his career, due to 14 flops in a row, he did not know what to do next. That's when Kumar's friend recommended him to come to Canada and do something there, for which he obtained a passport. However, when his 15th film fared well, the actor refused to look back and decided to stay where he was.

“There was a time when I had 14 flops in a row and I was wondering what to do. One of my closest friends who stays in Canada told me ‘come here and we will work together’. I started the process to get a Canadian passport because I felt my career was finished and I won’t get more work here. But my 15th film worked and I never looked back. I never thought of changing my passport,” Kumar revealed.
