Akshay Kumar is known to be one of the fittest and most health-conscious superstars in Bollywood. The superstar has often spoken about how he follows a vegetarian diet free from processed foods and has his dinner early. However, like most people, there are days he indulges in his sweet tooth.

In an interview with ETimes Lifestyle, his chef, Mohit Savargaonkar, co-founder of Pod Supply, revealed that although the ‘Hera Pheri’ star does have a diet free from onion, spices and garlic, sometimes, he relished almond and blueberry cookies, which though delicious, has zero fat, and enjoys their crispness and mild sweet flavour.

Benefits Of Almonds And Blueberries

According to a Cleveland Clinic report, almond is a nutritional powerhouse. Fibre, protein, good fats, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium are all abundant in almonds. These nutrients are essential for various body processes, including immunological response, cell growth, and energy production.

Almonds are a suitable snack choice for those with diabetes or those on a low-carb diet because they contain somewhat fewer carbs than other nuts. Antioxidants, including flavonoids and vitamin E, are abundant in almonds. These aid in shielding cells from oxidative stress and free radical damage.

Blueberries too are second to none when it comes to health benefits. They are rich in:

Vitamin C which boosts immunity.

Are high in fibre which helps you cleanse the gut and improve digestion.

Compared to other fruits, blueberries have less sugar and more fibre. They don't raise your blood sugar because of their low glycaemic index of only 53.

Since these fruits are so high in fibre, it can also keep your cholesterol levels in check: Soluble fibre sticks to the bile in your gut and helps expel it from your body entirely. This bile, according to the Cleveland Clinic is made of toxic substances such as cholesterol, metals, salts and bilrubin. Once this bile is out, your cholesterol levels also come down automatically.
