Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav have worked in several hit films such as Bhool Bhulaiyya
During the promotional campaign for their upcoming comedy Bhoot Bangla, actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan opened up about a range of industry experiences, including financial risks in filmmaking and recent controversies involving fellow actors. Their conversation also turned reflective as they remembered their late colleague Asrani, sharing insights from his life and career.

Akshay spoke about one of his final interactions with Asrani, recalling how the veteran had spoken candidly about the challenges he faced during his lifetime. According to Akshay, Asrani had described a particularly difficult phase when he ventured into film production using his own funds. Despite creating a project he believed in, the film failed commercially, leading to significant financial losses. The experience left a deep impact on him, and he strongly advised others in the industry to avoid investing their personal savings into film production. He emphasized that producing with external funding may reduce personal risk, but putting one’s own money on the line can be devastating if the film does not succeed.

The discussion around financial caution naturally led Akshay and Priyadarshan to comment on the recent legal troubles of Rajpal Yadav, who had faced imprisonment in connection with a cheque bounce case. The situation reportedly arose after Rajpal borrowed money to back a film project but was unable to repay the debt. Drawing a parallel to Asrani’s experience, Akshay reiterated that stepping into production without sufficient expertise or financial planning can be risky, especially for actors whose primary craft lies elsewhere.

Akshay stressed the importance of staying focused on one’s core strengths, suggesting that actors should concentrate on acting rather than attempting to expand into areas they may not fully understand. He also cautioned against the temptation to chase quick financial gains through ventures that may appear lucrative but carry hidden risks. Despite the situation, he expressed hope that Rajpal would overcome the setback, praising him as an exceptionally talented performer who consistently elevates his work beyond expectations. Akshay also fondly described their on-screen chemistry, noting that their spontaneous improvisations often enhance scenes beyond what is written in the script, something Priyadarshan himself appreciates.

Looking ahead, the duo shared updates on their upcoming collaborations. Following the release of Bhoot Bangla, they are set to reunite for Haiwaan, which is expected to arrive in theatres roughly three months later, likely around August. Beyond that, they also have Hera Pheri 3 in the pipeline, although both admitted that the project’s current status remains uncertain, with little clarity on its progress at the moment.
