AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes does not own a car in London!
Tony Fernandes can afford any private vehicle. But in London, his second home, he does not own a car. He hires a cab like any ordinary Joe Commuter.

"It's so easy to get a cab or Uber… you don't have to think of parking, etc," the AirAsia CEO said at a conclave in Mumbai in February.

Fernandes juggles his time between London, where his two children live, and Kuala Lumpur, the AirAsia headquarters. He lived in London during his school and college years.

The trend of people refusing to own cars may impact oil prices in the future, Fernandes believes. "There are three things that make me feel oil will stay where it is. One is, new forms of energy, two is pollution as countries will have to do more to curb pollution, and the third one - that people are underestimating - is the sharing economy. There will be less cars in the world as you have more Ubers and Olas, etc. along with more public transport."
