Air India, one of the largest airlines in India, has come a long way from 1932 when it was launched by JRD Tata. Post-Independence, the Indian government acquired its shares and renamed it as Air India .

While the 'Maharaja' has remained a popular mascot, few know that the airlines has a few stamps dedicated to it.

Here are some stamps from the Air India's collection spanning over four decades between 1948 and 1998.
