'Ahsoka' season 2 gets early 2027 release window
Disney+ has started testing a faster release pattern for some of its popular shows. Marvel's VisionQuest, for example, released its first two episodes together before moving to two episodes a week for the next few weeks. The final two episodes are being released separately. The streaming platform has also announced a similar plan for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, which will premiere with two episodes before moving to two new episodes every week. This is different from the pattern followed by earlier live-action Star Wars shows. The Mandalorian released one episode each week, while The Acolyte had a two-episode premiere before continuing with weekly episodes. According to The Direct, Disney+ could consider bringing its newer release strategy to Ahsoka Season 2. However, the report is based on the platform's recent scheduling decisions and does not confirm that Lucasfilm has approved the change.

When Will Ahsoka Season 2 Release?

Disney has officially announced that Ahsoka Season 2 will premiere on January 20, 2027. The new season will bring back Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, alongside Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. The official Star Wars website quoted Dawson as saying, “The stakes are higher, the battles are bigger… and the threat of Thrawn looms large for Ahsoka, her crew, and the entire galaxy.” The second season will continue the story after the events of the first season, with Ahsoka and Sabine trying to find their way home while their friends face Thrawn's growing threat.

Why Could Disney+ Change The Schedule?

A faster release pattern could help Disney+ manage its crowded streaming calendar and avoid overlapping major shows. The Direct points to the possible scheduling gap around other Disney+ titles, including Daredevil: Born Again, as well as the franchise's plans for its 50th anniversary in 2027. The anniversary celebrations will include a theatrical re-release of Star Wars: A New Hope on February 19, 2027. The upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, is also scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 28, 2027. For now, fans will have to wait for Disney+ to reveal the episode-by-episode schedule for Ahsoka Season 2. The January 20 premiere date is confirmed, but a two-episode weekly rollout remains a possibility rather than an official announcement.
