One of the perils of your every move being recorded is that the shrugs and the eye rolls and the side eyes other guests throw your way are also forever saved. Case in point: What is now famously known as Princess Anne’s shrug in response to Queen Elizabeth’s beckoning hand to join the Trumps at an event at the palace.

For those unfamiliar, the Queen, accompanied by Prince Charles, was greeting the Trumps at a reception. She spotted Princess Anne waiting her turn at a distance. She beckoned her daughter, who responded with a shrug. With no audio of the exchange available, you can imagine the gaps and gasps.

He said, she said. Or in this case, two he saids. Javid labelled Grant as rude when the latter refused to shake hands with him at a movie premiere. But Grant had a response lined up for those labelling him elite. One of the leading voices in the campaign for stricter press regulation, Grant’s refusal to shake Javid’s hands was because of how the latter had behaved around victims of press abuse earlier in the decade.

“If you don’t mind, I won’t shake your hand because you were rude and dismissive to the victims of press abuse when you met them as culture secretary [sometime in 2014-15],” Grant reportedly told Javid.

This was a clear case of personal differences spilling over into the professional arena. It had come to light that Terry had had an affair with Bridge’s former partner and the mother of his child. The two were teammates at Chelsea football club, but Bridge had since moved to Manchester City.

And in February 2010, the two went head to head, for the first time since the revelations came to light. As per decorum, they were expected to shake hands before the kick-off. But Bridge just couldn’t do it. Terry was left with his hand held out.

The story goes that the reality star did a shoot for the famous fashion designer in Paris, when she was pregnant with her daughter North. One of her girlfriends apparently told her that Lagerfeld presents his model with a bag at the end of the shoot. It was a bit of a tradition. But mid-way through the shoot, West’s mother, Kris Jenner, walked in. And she was dressed head-to-toe in Chanel, immediately drawing Lagerfeld’s eye.

Result: At the end of the shoot, while West got words of praise, Jenner walked away with a clutch decorated with crystals. The former was left fuming at the perceived snub.

A couple of years ago, Larson presented Affleck with the best actor statuette at the Academy Awards. After presenting the award, Larson stepped back, with her hands firmly by her sides, refusing publicly to join the audience in applause.

It was a statement against the sexual misconduct charges levied against Affleck a few years before. When asked about this at a later point, Larson simply said that what she did on stage spoke for itself.
