After nearly 70 films, Priyanka Chopra talks about her journey to Hollywood from Bollywood: ‘Started feeling a little limited’

Priyanka Chopra is currently basking in the success of her latest film, The Bluff. The global icon, who made her film debut opposite Thalapathy Vijay in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan, has cemented her position in the film industry, earning a global fanbase. Having starred in movies and television shows like Citadel, Quantico, Baywatch, Love Again, and Heads of State, the actress has now opened up about why she decided to explore her opportunities in Hollywood by leaving the Hindi film industry at the peak of her career.

Priyanka Chopra’s Hollywood shift

Priyanka Chopra wore her heart on her sleeve during a recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. In the candid conversation with the host, the 43-year-old revealed that she has been a part of approximately 70 films between Bollywood and Hollywood. She dreamt of becoming a star at the tender age of 18.



Priyanka Chopra, however, admitted that after working in India for years, she felt limited by her options and wanted to explore what more the world of glitz and glam has to offer. Despite being inspired by Indian-origin actress-comedian Mindy Kaling and her own industry colleague Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who made a notable mark in American pop culture, Priyanka couldn’t help but wonder about the few people representing India on a global stage.

Priyanka Chopra’s pivoting mantra

That’s when Priyanka Chopra started thinking about other options, more specifically, starting over. She wanted to start a fresh chapter in the same field by deep diving into the endless possibilities. She admitted to being competitive, adding that nothing in the world comes easy and everyone has their own battles to deal with. The actress, however, noted that she is unwilling to stay stuck in the same place or keep living in her comfort zone just because it carries a sense of familiarity and security.


To conclude, Priyanka Chopra stated that she is a firm believer in pivoting, especially when life throws curveballs. She called it the perfect opportunity to pick and dust yourself, pause for a moment to feel the pain and grieve, before changing the course of your life completely.
