After 14-hour surgery, Dipika Kakar confronts another medical challenge

Television star Dipika Kakar has encountered yet another medical challenge while still healing from her previous cancer surgery. Less than a year after undergoing a major operation to remove a malignant growth, doctors have detected a fresh cyst in her liver. The actress discovered the issue when she began experiencing discomfort similar to what she had felt earlier—persistent pain in her abdomen accompanied by uneasiness spreading to her left shoulder. Concerned by the familiar symptoms, Dipika and her husband decided to update their followers through their YouTube platform.

Her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, shared in a recent vlog that Dipika initially felt mild abdominal discomfort for two days. Although it seemed manageable at first, the pain intensified significantly by Friday night. This prompted an urgent hospital visit, where doctors advised a CT scan. The imaging report revealed a 13 mm cyst in her liver. Dipika explained that the reappearance of shoulder pain along with stomach discomfort deeply alarmed them, especially because it resembled the warning signs from her earlier diagnosis.

Fortunately, Shoaib clarified that the condition was identified at an early phase. The scan indicated only the cyst, while the remaining parameters appeared stable. However, their anxiety resurfaced because her earlier tumour had been classified as highly aggressive, with doctors cautioning about possible recurrence. After careful evaluation, medical experts recommended a non-surgical procedure to eliminate the cyst. Instead of another extensive operation, doctors plan to use a burning technique to treat the growth. Dipika will need to be admitted for the procedure.


Previously, Dipika underwent a lengthy 14-hour surgery at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Shoaib had escorted her to the operation theatre early in the morning, and she emerged late at night. Following the procedure, she was shifted directly to the intensive care unit, where she remained under close observation for three days.

After welcoming her son Ruhaan, Dipika returned to television by participating in Celebrity MasterChef India, judged by Farah Khan, Ranveer Brar, and Vikas Khanna. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw midway due to severe shoulder pain. The season’s trophy was eventually lifted by Gaurav Khanna. Her last full-fledged fiction appearance was in Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, and she later made a brief appearance in Sasural Simar Ka 2.

Despite these recurring health setbacks, Dipika continues to display remarkable courage, drawing strength from her family and well-wishers as she prepares for yet another step in her recovery journey.
