Adobe integrates Acrobat PDF tools into WhatsApp Web and Windows

Adobe has introduced Acrobat-powered PDF features within WhatsApp Web and the Windows app, allowing users to open, view, annotate and edit PDF documents without leaving their chat conversations.
The integration, announced on July 22, is rolling out globally and is aimed at simplifying document workflows inside WhatsApp, which has over three billion users worldwide. Instead of downloading a PDF or switching to another application, users can now preview and interact with documents directly within the messaging platform.

The new experience includes in-chat PDF previews, full-screen viewing support, including for password-protected documents, and basic markup tools such as highlighting, underlining, striking through text and freehand annotations. Users can also open a document in Adobe Acrobat to access more advanced features, including editing, organising pages, applying password protection and electronic signatures.


Adobe says PDFs rendered through Acrobat inside WhatsApp will preserve their original formatting and layout. Documents shared on WhatsApp will continue to be protected by the platform's end-to-end encryption.
For users with an Acrobat subscription, the integration also brings access to Acrobat AI Assistant, which can summarise documents, answer questions and extract key information from PDFs.

According to Adobe, the integration is designed for common business and personal workflows such as reviewing contracts, sharing invoices, collaborating on design files, exchanging catalogues or coordinating documents within a single conversation. Once edits are complete, the updated PDF can be shared back into the same WhatsApp chat.

The feature is currently available globally on WhatsApp Web and the Windows desktop application.
