Aditya Narayan finds CBFC's taboo-word list offensive

VADODARA: Music composer and singer Aditya Narayan feels that Central Board of Film Certification ( CBFC)'s ban on use of certain words in the films is an attack on the freedom of speech and expression.

The list of 28 words which was leaked to the media recently has drawn widespread criticism.

Speaking to late last night here, Aditya, son of well-known playback singer Udit Narayan, said such a ban was "attack on the creativity of artists and freedom of speech."

He was here to perform at North Zone Cultural Festival organised by the Gujarat Technological University at Limda.

Narayan also said that controversy over the AIB Roast show in Mumbai was unwarranted.

Talking about his career plans, he said he wanted to concentrate only on music, and though there were offers to act in films, he was not interested.

"I am concentrating on my first album which is likely to be released before the end of the year," he said.

"Singing is in my genes. Of course I get a lot of encouragement and motivation from my father. I am also a great fan of Kishor Kumar's, who was a singer, film-maker, producer, music director and writer. It is not easy," he said.

He also said he would not miss an opportunity to sing for the legendary A R Rahman.

Talking about the changing music scene, Aditya said, "Melody has its own charm and melody songs will come back as the fast-paced music can not survive for long."
