Rakul Preet Singh has finally broken her silence on the income tax raids linked to her. According to reports, the Mumbai IT Department conducted multiple searches at 12 locations linked to Rakul, her father-in-law and film producer Vashu Bhagnani, and Panorama Studios in Mumbai over suspected fund irregularities. Documents, financial records and overseas transactions were allegedly verified to check whether funds were being routed abroad under the guise of financing film projects. Now, Rakul has clarified that she was not connected to the matter.

Rakul Preet Singh denies links to tax searches

On October 5, Rakul shared an elaborate note on Instagram addressing the reports. The actress criticised the growing tendency to sensationalise developments without verifying the facts. She clarified that the Income Tax search was not related to her.

Rakul revealed that she comes from an Armed Forces background and pointed out that she entered the film industry without the backing of a godfather. She attributed her career to hard work, stressing that she had been a law-abiding citizen who has been paying her taxes regularly since the age of 20.


Rakul Preet Singh rejects property, gift allegations

Rakul further denied having any involvement in illegal foreign remittances, either personally or on behalf of any production house. She also rejected the idea of holding illegal properties for someone else, whether in India or abroad. Additionally, the Yaariyan actress stated that she has neither received any property as a gift, nor has she accepted expensive gifts.

Rakul described the reports surrounding her as false and malicious. She acknowledged that certain organisations operate under commercial pressures but maintained that such considerations should not come at the expense of misinformation, particularly when a person's reputation and livelihood could be affected.
