Actress Abhilasha Patil, who starred in 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' & 'Chhichhore', passes away due to Covid complications

Actress Abhilasha Patil, who featured in films like 'Good Newwz', 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' and 'Chhichhore', passed away due to Covid-19 complications, a report said on Thursday. She was in her early 40s.

Patil breathed her last on Wednesday. She is survived by her husband and a son. Actor-director Shashank Udapurkar, who had worked with Abhilasha in the Marathi flick 'Prawaas', confirmed the news to ETimes.

"Abhilasha was a very natural actress. She was very enthusiastic and passionate when it comes to acting. She comes from a non-filmy background with no godfather in the industry. I think she was an inspiration for all those actors who still struggling in the industry for films," Udapurkar said.



Apart from Bollywood movies, Patil also appeared in Marathi films such as 'Te Aath Diwas', Bayko Deta Ka Bayko', 'Prawaas', 'Pipsi' and 'Tujha Majha Arrange Marriage'.

Patil is among the few actors who the film industry has lost to the coronavirus crisis. So far, Bollywood actors such as Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Kartik Aaryan, Sonu Sood, Vicky Kaushal and more have contracted the virus.

India is currently in the midst of second wave of pandemic, which has severely exhausted the country's health care infrastructure. The hospitals around the country are witnessing overcrowding with low to no oxygen supply, medical equipment and medicine to meet the demands and treat patients. The country has been reporting over 2,500 Covid fatalities each day.
