LONDON: Actor Ewan McGregor is baffled by the fan frenzy surrounding the " Star Wars" universe, because to him playing Obi-Wan Kenobi was just another job with a great director.

The Scottish star portrayed the Jedi master in the Star Wars prequels Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, and he admits he would love to reprise the character in another film, ewported Contactmusic.

But he still can't quite get his head around the fanatical response to the movies - and his part in them.

"I like the films that I made with George Lucas and I'm happy to be part of the legend of it all, but that's it with me," he said.

"I don't really understand the fanaticism about it."

And he has learned he has to be careful about what he says when he talks about future 'Star Wars' projects, adding, "I'm asked (about that) by everybody all the time: 'Would you do another one?' and I've said, 'Yeah, I'd be happy to', because I think there's a film between Episode III and Episode IV, which is when (original Obi-Wan Kenobi) Alec Guinness is in the desert.

"I've been asked about it so much now that I'm being criticised for trying to persuade Disney to make this movie! I only responded to people asking me about it, and now it looks like I'm sort of looking for work, which is humiliating."
