More about Accused
For the unversed, Accused is set in London and follows the lives of a well-known doctor whose world unravels once she is accused of sexual assault. As public scrutiny grows and attitudes harden, the film looks at how allegations strain personal relationships and require difficult moral decisions. The movie revolves around the life of Dr Geetika, played by Konkona Sen Sharma. Geetika is a respected gynaecologist and the youngest head of department at a reputable hospital. She is also a well-known LGBTQ figure aspiring to the position of dean. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she is accused of sexual misconduct, jeopardising both her professional and personal life.
The teaser shows how quickly public opinion turns against her. Despite her strong professional record, anonymous complaints lead to her being branded a predator. As suspicion grows, the film focuses on the emotional strain within her marriage, especially on her wife, played by Pratibha Ranta, who must decide whether to give in to outside pressure or stand by her partner.
Accused, written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, uses restrained tension and personal performances to examine how belief and loyalty are challenged under pressure. The film urges viewers to consider the consequences of taking sides when facts are challenged and perception frequently trumps truth. Stay tuned for more updates!
