Hours after the Delhi High Court quashed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a ban on 'The Accidental Prime Minister' trailer, the matter has now reached the Supreme Court. The matter will reportedly be mentioned for an urgent hearing tomorrow.
Earlier, Delhi-based fashion designer Pooja Mahajan filed the PIL on the ground that the trailer had caused unaccountable damage to the name and fame of the office of the Prime Minster.
A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V. Kameswar Rao rejected Mahajan's PIL which was filed through her counsel Arun Maitri. Mahajan's PIL stated that the movie will harm the constitutional image of the Prime Minister post and give it a negative name nationally and internationally. It also said that the trailer violated Section 416 of Indian Penal Code as the impersonation of a living person which is not permitted in law.
