Abinav Bindra sacrificed holidays to 'train, train, train and then train some more'

It’s been ten years since the day Abhinav Bindra bagged India’s first ever individual gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

It’s been ten years since the day Abhinav Bindra bagged India’s first ever individual gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. And now with the Tokyo Games just two years away, Bindra is hoping for another gold medal in India’s kitty. To mark the day, Bindra recently shared a video on Twitter, chronicling his Beijing journey and the value of the medal. “This is not a medal,” the video starts, in Bindra’s voice, “this is proof that dreams can come true.”

Posting the video on social media, Bindra wrote –“You made me who I am. Now you inspire a billion others. I am cheering for the sportsmen and women of India to get our next #GoldforIndia” A montage of his winning shot, the medal around the neck and him practicing follow, with Bindra speaking about sacrificing holidays to “train, train, train and then train some more”.



In a short span, the video garnered quite some attention, with PV Sindhu, Sachin Tendulkar and Gagan Narang, among others, retweeting his message.
