Aamir Khan's third marriage gets a political twist: Shekhar Suman asks politicians to learn the 'art of forming alliances' from the star

Aamir Khan's marriage to Gauri Spratt has become the subject of political humour, thanks to actor and host Shekhar Suman. During the latest episode of his YouTube talk show Shekhar Tonite, Shekhar mixed politics with Bollywood while taking a light-hearted dig at Aamir's third marriage, saying politicians could learn from the actor when it comes to forming alliances.

Aamir married Gauri Spratt in an intimate registered ceremony at his Pali Hill residence in Mumbai on July 5, attended by close family members and a few friends. The actor was earlier married to Reena Dutta and filmmaker Kiran Rao.

Opening his comic monologue, Shekhar praised Aamir before turning to satire. “This man has given a unique vision to several generations yet to come. And that vision is to chase something till you don’t achieve it. Politicians, especially, should learn a lot from him. It’s often said that politicians know how to form alliances. But they should learn the art of forming alliances with this man.”


He then extended the political comparison by joking that Aamir had successfully created a "mahagathbandhan" (grand alliance). “Our government can’t run a double engine smoothly, and he’s running a triple engine now.”

Shekhar continued with his wordplay, making a pun on Gauri Spratt's name before comparing Aamir to a powerful engine. “Aapne Gauri… ek minute… gaur kiya hoga.”

He added, “Aamir's talent is unimaginable. He’s unique. He’s like the engine where petrol, ethanol, and isobutanol are blended together. But despite that, this engine hasn’t ceased yet, and is smoothly running on the tracks towards a new destination."

The jokes became more political as he compared Aamir's marriages to election victories. “Aamir Khan has formed the government for the third time with full majority. Is Aamir Khan the NDA government or what? Even PM Modi must be thinking that he just broke Nehru’s record, and now he has a new competitor in Aamir Khan."

Shekhar also referred to the fact that Aamir's wedding celebrations included members of his extended family from previous relationships. Pointing to the presence of former wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, along with children Ira Khan, Junaid Khan and Azad, he remarked, “This is called vasudhaiva kutumbakam (the world is one family).”

Ending the segment, he said, “Now, I get why he’s called the ‘perfectionist’. He continues to do something till he becomes perfect at it. As we all know, perfection ki koi seema nahi hoti… Seema chhodiye, koi Reena, koi Kiran nahi hoti."

Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt have known each other for around 25 years after first meeting in Bengaluru. Although they stayed in touch over the years, they reportedly reconnected in 2023 and later began dating. Aamir made their relationship public during his 60th birthday celebrations earlier this year.

Before the wedding, Aamir had confirmed that the ceremony would be a small family affair. He had said, “Shaadi hai 5 July ko. Ghar pe hi kar rahe hain. Bahut hi choti shaadi hai. Bahut hi khaas din hai 5 tarikh hamare liye. Dono families hain aur kuch khaas dost hain. (The wedding is on 5 July. We are hosting it at home; it's a very small, intimate affair. It is a very special day for us. Both families and a few close friends will be there.)”

According to reports, the ceremony took place at Aamir's Pali Hill residence and was attended by family members, close friends and a handful of guests, making it a private celebration before becoming the subject of Shekhar Suman's latest round of political satire and comedy.
