Actress Pooja Bhatt was once involved with actor Ranvir Shorey. In 2002, the duo made headlines when news of the Singh Is Kinng actor's altercation with the actress hit the grapevine. Pooja’s brother Rahul Bhatt assaulted Ranvir in a move to protect her. Recently, Rahul admitted he overreacted and said he regretted taking the law into his own hands. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Rahul said, “There was an altercation between Ranvir Shorey and Pooja Bhatt. They had an argument, after which Ranvir hit her or something like that. I had to step in, and when I did, my response was a bit exaggerated. I broke his car’s glass. I broke one of his ribs. I did a wrong thing by taking the law into my own hands. Subsequently, I paid the price for it. I was arrested. Charged.”

He admitted that he regretted his earlier reaction and acknowledged that he had responded far too strongly. Although he had previously maintained that he would react in the same manner again, he now feels that his conduct towards Ranvir Shorey was unjustified. He described Shorey as a gracious and respectable person, particularly because of the way he handled their legal dispute.

Rahul explained that Shorey chose to put the matter behind them and voluntarily agreed to settle the case. According to him, such a gesture is uncommon, as people often try to take advantage of such circumstances for financial gain. Instead, Shorey chose to resolve the matter, following which the FIR against Rahul was quashed. Rahul said that until that point, he had a criminal case pending against him, and he deeply appreciated Shorey’s mature approach. He added that he respected him for letting go of any resentment and resolving the matter without holding a grudge.


However, Rahul’s statement is different from what he told Hindi Rush. “I was always the kind of person who wouldn’t spare anybody who messed with my sister. I am well-behaved with well-behaved people, but I could be a horror to the wrong kind of people.”

He also said he would hit Ranvir again. He said he was not afraid of anybody, and if anybody hit his sister, no law could prevent him from seeking retribution. “If anybody hits my sister, no law and order can stop me. Only God can save them. I am still like that; my core personality hasn’t changed,” he said.

Ranvir later reminisced about that chapter of his life while he was in Bigg Boss. Calling it the “biggest scandal", he said that Pooja’s father, director Mahesh Bhatt, pretended to come to an understanding with his father and then later paid the media to paint him as an alcoholic and abusive partner.

Pooja Bhatt was one of the most popular leading ladies in the 90s. She appeared in hit films such as Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, Sadak, Border, Zakhm, etc. She is also the recipient of two National Film Awards.
