A year of highs & lows for Rajesh Gandhi, MD, Vadilal Group of Companies
The year gone by has been a mixed bag for Rajesh Gandhi, MD of the Ahmedabadbased Vadilal Group of Companies. There has been the high of his daughter's wedding in October and the low of being embroiled in a spat with his own brother in the Company Law Board (CLB).

The battle lines are drawn with Gandhi and his cousin, Devanshu (son of his uncle, Lakshman Gandhi) on one side and Gandhi's elder brother, Virendra on the other. Each side has accused the other of mismanagement and financial impropriety.

In May, CLB Mumbai directed the appointment of an independent observer to supervise the sale of the company's immovable properties. But Gandhi and his cousin moved CLB Delhi, seeking removal of the independent observer. They argued that it was interfering with the company's day-to-day operations.

Mumbai may be closer to Ahmedabad, but it's the capital city where Gandhi may find support. His daughter, Aastha, who got married to Avishkar, son of high profile lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi is now a resident of the city after all.
