A two-day online auction of collectible books on Indian art for bibliophiles
MUMBAI: After two very successful book auctions, StoryLTD's upcoming auction, Collectible Books and Ephemera on Indian Art, promises to be a treat for art connoisseurs and collectors of books. The event 'Collectible books and ephemera on Indian art' is to be auctioned online on 17 - 18 May.

The sale is a compendium of books on Indian art, with a few books on Pakistani artists. Leading the sale is Lot 45, an impressive collection of sixty-four volumes of Marg's magazines on the arts, from January 1947 to June 2013. Many of Marg's early magazines are coveted for path-breaking articles by influential writers of the time, and are no longer available. The lot is estimated to fetch anything between Rs 4.5 - 5 lakhs. Also, 51 lots include over two hundred limited-edition monographs, reviews by Indian art's early and most respected critics, artist-signed books and out-of-print catalogues.

Highlight: Volumes 1 - 64 of Marg magazine, Nicholas Roerich's last book, and books on Pakistani artists. Other highlights include a set of 41 publications by Lalit Kala Akademi, and out-of-print books on artists including Thomas and William Daniell, Raja Ravi Varma, The Tagores, Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Chittaprosad, Amrita Sher-Gil, F N Souza, M F Husain, Bikash Bhattacharjee, Sadequain, and Zainul Abedin.

Auction timing: It begins on 17 May at 8 PM IST.
