A truck racer’s winning formula
Motor car racing seems like child’s play when you see a dozen trucks go head to head on a racing track for three quarters of an hour. Adrenaline rush was redefined last weekend when Tata Motors returned with the second season of its T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship.

UK-based Stuart Oliver (right), who won the maiden race last year, continued his winning streak by emerging champion in the Sunday race as well.

What does it take to be a truck-racing champ? “We get a couple of days prior to the race to familiarise ourselves with the truck and it s set t ings. Once you get the hang of how the mechanics work, you can do well on the track,” said Oliver, who’s won 10 British truck racing championships and participates in almost 50 races a year.

Also, truck racing is about consistency and patience. Racers need to remember the sheer size of the vehicles they are racing. Oliver points out, “To finish first, you need to first finish.”
