It's been 17 years since the final episode of 'Friends' aired, and while fans had reruns of the show to keep them satiated, they could not control their excitement for the highly-anticipated reunion that dropped across the world today.

'Friends: The Reunion' brought stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc back together on set for an emotional get-together. It reportedly also got each of them paid $2.5 million for the 105-minute special.

From their famous quiz to discussing whether Rachel and Ross were really "on a break," the cast of the show took a trip down memory lane during the special, that also featured appearances by Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and David Beckham among others.

And Phoebe's (played by Kudrow) 'Smelly Cat' also got a makeover - one that you didn't know you needed.

In a video from the special that is doing the rounds on Twitter, Kudrow - sitting in Central Perk - is joined by Lady Gaga who reinvents the popular song from the show.

After the applause-worthy performance, Lisa Kudrow jumps back into character, mumbling, “I still think it's better when it's just me.”

Which leaves Lady Gaga joking, “It is.”

Sharing the video on the micro-blogging site, user @EdwardWJSmith aptly wrote, "Smelly Cat, but make it Oscar worthy."

But that's not the only thing the show has in store for fans.

As per news agency Reuters, turns out the on-again, off-again romance between characters Ross Geller and Rachel Green wasn't just for the cameras.

Actors David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston revealed for the first time that they had major crushes on each other in the early years of the series, but the first time they kissed was when their characters did so on screen in 1995, the agency reported.

The stars of 'Friends' never really left us - they were simply on a break.

The cast of the beloved 1990s sitcom about six attractive, straight, white New Yorkers with ludicrously giant Manhattan apartments are finally reuniting for a much-hyped and long-delayed special.

Fans can expect a "table read" of a classic episode, a recreation of the famous 'Friends' quiz at Monica and Rachel's apartment - accompanied by lots of hugs, tears and reminiscing.

The cast and characters' bond continues to be a profitable one. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer collectively negotiated one million dollars each per episode by the end of their colossally popular and zeitgeist-setting 236-episode, 10-year run.

In a sign of the show's enduring appeal, the gang are reportedly pocketing $2.5 million each for the reunion.

Titled, 'The One Where They Get Back Together', airs 17 years after the show's finale drew more than 50 million viewers.

British comic James Corden will host the reunion, interviewing the cast in front of the giant fountain on the sprawling Warner Bros Ranch used in the show's famous opening credits.

The reunion will also feature the show's returning guest stars including Tom Selleck, Reese Witherspoon, and Maggie Wheeler - better known the world over as the perennially shocked Janice.

While you count the hours to watch the reunion (it drops on ZEE5 today, i.e. May 27), here's looking at some fun, quirky facts about the show that first aired 27 years ago.

The cast of 6 was paid around $22,000 per episode for the first season of the show. However, by the second season, each of them was being paid a different salary.

In 1997, in a first for an ensemble TV cast, the actors refused to work until they were all paid equally, demanding a salary of $100,000 each, per episode.

The strategy seemed to work, and by the end, each of them made $1 million per episode.

You may love the 'Friends' theme song, and can't imagine the show without the opening credits showing the cast dancing in front of a fountain and the popular couch, but turns out the stars of the show weren't really big fans of the Rembrandts' '90s hit.

Actress Jennifer Aniston, during an interview on BBC's 'The One Show' in 2016, revealed that “no one was really a big fan of that theme song.”

She, however, did clarify, by saying, "I don’t mean to say that, but we felt it was a little, I don’t know…. Dancing in a pond, or like, a fountain, felt a little odd.”

Before adding, “But we did it, because we were told to."
