- It's always advisable to buy a hair mask after an analysis of your scalp and hair by your stylist or dermatologist.

- Typically, you have to shampoo your hair first.

- Put on a hair mask after towel drying it.

- Cover your hair with a shower cap and use a steamer over it. Alternately, one can use a hot towel.

- Steaming helps hair cuticles to open up and enables the mask to penetrate the hair better. Ideally, leave it on for about 10 minutes.

- When the hair cools, rinse with cool water.
