A big splash for Indian fashion
Wendell Rodricks has reason to celebrate, as he joins the ranks of international designers like Charles Frederick Worth, Christian Dior and Prada. The Goan designer's creation is selected for the museum archives of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. Director and author at the FIT museum, Valerie Steele and curators, Ariele Elia and Elizabeth Way chose Rodricks's creation to be flown to NYC.

An elated Rodricks tells ET Panache, "I'm humbled and honoured for myself, but more importantly, this is for India. Helping establish its credentials as a fashion capital means more to me than my own contribution." The design was the opening creation at the recent Amazon India Fashion Week grand finale in Delhi. Constructed on a swimsuit, it boasts of 30 metres of net panels built on a silver lycra swimsuit.

Global Fashion Capitals, the exhibition showing the design, opens on June 3, but Rodricks says that he won't be able to make it for the opening event. "I'll be on a cruise from Copenhagen to Russia at that time. However, the exhibition will be on till November, so I will definitely take a look later."
