Celine Dion’s autoimmune condition: Stiff Person Syndrome
Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022 after she faced a flare-up in 2020. Her last full traditional concert was held in the same year in March, when she wrapped her Courage World Tour. In 2024, Celine made her last on-stage appearance at the Paris Olympics, singing Edith Piaf's classic "L'Hymne à l'Amour" from the Eiffel Tower. For the unversed, Stiff Person Syndrome is a medical condition causing extreme muscle stiffness and painful spasms, tantamount to paralysis. Sometimes SPS can also lead to double vision, slurred speech and an unsteady gait, with the symptoms typically worsening over time. Although there is no cure for SPS, treatment can help manage symptoms and slow the progression of the ailment.
